QUINN

Omega Ivana was stunning.

So, naturally, I hated her before she even spoke.

“My Prince,” she greeted, her long white hair touching the ground as she curtsied.

It was an elegant move that appeared even more regal as a result of her porcelain features.

She was my complete opposite, all light colors where I was dark.

Ice-blue eyes. White eyebrows and eyelashes to match her hair. Pink lips.

She looked right at home in this opulently furnished room. It was a seating area of sorts with a pair of pristine elevators framed in marble along the back wall.

I’d just been inside one of those gold-plated boxes, Kieran having chosen to descend from his penthouse down to the ground floor via the standard transportation rather than shadowing.

“Hello, Ivana,” he greeted politely, his palm going to my lower back while he spoke. “I don’t believe you’ve had the pleasure of meeting our future Queen, but this is Quinnlynn.”

Ivana didn’t speak at first, her eyes peering up just a little to look at me. “Princess MacNamara.” Her flat tone and cold formal title had me raising an eyebrow.

I glanced at Kieran, but he was too busy narrowing his gaze at Cillian, the two males seemingly engaged in a private conversation.

Telepathy, I thought, recalling Cillian’s unique talent. I’d never met a V-Clan wolf with that ability, but he came from an ancient bloodline. Just like Kieran. Both of them were almost equal in power, making their friendship rather intriguing.

Most Alphas refused to bow.

But Cillian clearly conceded to Kieran’s will, as evidenced now as he slightly angled his head in agreement to whatever they’d just been discussing.

Kieran shifted his gaze to mine, his lips curling just a little. “Cillian will be your guard today. Try not to run. He’s in a mood.”

I frowned. “Where would I run to? We’re on an island.” And I couldn’t shadow, thanks to the leash Kieran had wrapped around my spirit.

He lifted a shoulder. “I’m sure you could get creative where it counts.”

That almost sounded like a compliment, but I suspected he meant it as more of an insult. “I’m not very interested in running right now. Maybe I’ll revisit the notion later.”

“Hmm,” he hummed, his palm sliding up my back to wrap around my nape. He stepped in front of me, giving Ivana and Cillian his back, his lips going to my ear.

“Maybe I’ll join you on that run later in wolf form.” The words were soft. However, his grip on my neck certainly wasn’t gentle. “But only if you behave.”

His words from earlier echoed in my mind. “I don’t reward disobedience, little one.”

And now it seemed he would reward me with a run if I behaved. By taking me for a run, I thought, my eyes narrowing. “I’m not a dog, Kieran.”

“No. You’re just my devious intended,” he whispered, his nose nuzzling my throat. “I won’t be far. Cillian will call me if you need me.”

A threat lingered in that statement, one I chose to ignore. Because I had no intention of running. Yet I understood why he continued to suggest otherwise.
